Feast of Mistakes

I am currently 75% finished with my director's cut of my 2nd feature. I am reminded how much I hate editing. To be very clear, post is crucial. Its really where the movie is made and I am in no way trying to diminish its importance. I am just a production person. I like long days on my feet, moving around making things happen. Sitting in a dark room in front of a computer, feasting on my mistakes is one of my least favorite activities.

TV vs Movies

There is no question that a career in the entertainment industry is dramatic peaks and valleys of success.  Some days you feel so confident in where you are and where you are going and other days you feel like you are still on the very first rung of the ladder.  I wrapped principal photography on my second feature in March.  It was so fun and stressful and stimulating and exciting and those feelings lingered for a few months afterward.

The play is the thing

So, I am stepping out of my comfort zone and returning to the theatre.  I haven't directed a play in five years so I am a bit nervous but I know I will sharpen some of my directing skills.  Directing a play is like taking the rehearsal process of a film, slowing it down and holding it under a microscope.
